Design Process
In this section, list the specific milestones/phases you will follow. Be as specific as possible in this section—edit the content based on what project deliverables (design projects) are requested by the client.
Paragraph 1 Introduce the design process expectations
Purple text in the samples is a placeholder—replace it with your own information.
The design process will clarify objectives and preferences of the client and provide the designer with the organization’s “personality.” Thorough client feedback is essential to the process so no resources are wasted on a concept the client does not like. Process timelines may vary. They are estimates based on experience, but each client is different. Throughout this proposal, YOUR BUSINESS NAME/YOUR NAME* will be referred to as the “Designer” and CLIENT NAME* as the “Client.” Goal Deadlines are included, but will be subject to change if Client does not supply content when required. These dates are “goals” and may vary depending on the client needs and the pacing of projects. Deadlines may need to be changed due to vendor/production requirements.
The design process for a graphic design project begins with an initial consultation to define the project scope, objectives, and client preferences. Throughout the process, ongoing communication and collaboration ensure the project stays on track, with post-project support available if needed. Paragraph 2 Outline the design process
Concepting — The Designer will present three (3) initial designs* with supporting material examples to Client (if applicable). Initial Logo Identity designs may remain in grayscale, so the Client judges their preferences based on the composition rather than color—color will be applied during the Design Development stage if not used during the concepting.
Design Development — Client will choose one (1) of the designs to pursue and give the Designer any appropriate feedback to finalize concept. Up to two (2) rounds of design revisions** are included in proposal (specified in Project Deliverables).
Production — Once the design development is complete, the Designer will finalize design files and distribute to Client, as well as begin coordinating production with vendors (if applicable).
Completion — Once the project is delivered to Client (and vendor, if applicable), the project will be considered finished. Upon completion, the Designer will supply Client with digital files of the designs, as well as a final invoice.
